2009 Winter Update ...
Nigel had a fantastic end to the 08/09 season, he finished a close second on season points at woodford glen, was sixth at the South Island Super Stock champs in nelson, Rolling King of the Coast winner Daryl Paterson in Greymouth before returning to Kaikoura at Queens birthday weekend and winning the South Island Individual and teams title.
He won three from three in the heats as well as first past the post in the teams race even with Brad Rosewarne hot on his tail in several races.
The motor is away getting a tidy up and the possibility of some new parts being added to get some more horse power, the engine was extremely reliable with no issues throughout the whole season. The chassis has had new bars and out riggers fitted and a new graphics design will be put on.
Nigel is not sure if he will be out early in the season, if he puts the new bits on the engine it will take extra time and it depends on finances as well.
But with Nigel he keeps thing pretty close to his chest and we will have to wait and see how things progress.
2009 New Zealand Champs at Woodford Glen ...
Nigel has had a good run so far this season, he has finished 38 out of 39 races and is leading on club points. The South Island title has been postponed till April after wet weather in December washed out the meeting in Nelson, so he gets to be the title holder for a little longer. At the New Zealand Champs being held at the Glen, Nigel was keen to do well on his home track and with consistant racing on qualifying night, Nigel went straight through to the championship round by finishing inside the top ten every race. On championship night Nigel drove cleanly and had no major incidents to finish a credible 11th overall, a very good result and no damage to speak of. The car had a tune up just before christmas, but very little needed doing to it and with only minor work required to the chassis and bumpers. Nigel is looking forward to the last half of the season, defending his South Island Title and getting a good run in the Battle of the Stocks. He may even look at the King of the Coast if the car is not too badly beaten up and finances are still available, he is always looking for sponsorship.
